Meet Our Founder
With nearly 25 years in a men's group, I've experienced the life-changing power of community support. I have found my personal beliefs about myself can be very damaging and I've learned the value of consistent teamwork and connection. This support has helped me overcome challenges and celebrate triumphs. Brothers & Sisters Together is my way of sharing this transformative experience with others. Let's nurture our mental health, laugh, and challenge those counterproductive ideas.

FAQ's
How do you handle safety?
Creating safety is an important element in allowing participants to share some of the most vulnerable and personal stories of their lives. We first ask for all participants to agree to confidentiality. This applies to other's shares. Please do not share anything about what someone else shares in any context without having the consent of the individual who shared it. This includes postings electronically, in writing, verbally or any other form of communication. Criminal acts may not be covered. No personal information will ever be shared!
What is the structure?
This is a 2 hour commitment on a scheduled day of the week. We work to have breakout rooms with groups of 7 with one a leader. After a non religious blessing, a confidentiality agreement and a 4 minute meditation, we break into these groups of 7. We first have 3 minute check ins, and then 10 minute shares for each participant. Participants can ask for support. Each group is consistent over the weeks, so trust and friendships are built. A commitment helps to create this trust.
Are the leaders trained and/or certified counselors?
The leaders will all be trained in the basic structure of support within the context of this group. There may be some professionals, but the focus will be on contributions and care of all of us as equals.
How will groups be assigned? What if the personalities don't work?
You will be sent a questionnaire and you will rank your priorities. You will be matched with others with a similar profile. You are free to answer as many questions as you feel comfortable with. A leader will be trained to manage the meeting and any conflict. We will encourage everyone to learn to lead. You can ask to switch to another group if necessary. Any person who is abusive or violent will be removed from the group and/or asked to leave the community. Please be respectful!
Is this religious?
No, this is not religious. This does have elements of spirituality with a non-religious blessing. It has a commitment to the idea of trust in yourself and community, the ritual of a structure to share what is important to you and the joy of connection!
What is the drug and alcohol policy?
We request that all participants not use drugs or alcohol for 24 hours before the meeting. This allows for better clarity. Anyone who appears to be under the influence will not be allowed to participate. If there is a second event, that person will have to reapply to join the community.
What are the times offered?
Consistency is critical so you can count on teammates to support you and they can, in turn, receive support as well. Therefore we will offer as many options as possible, typically 3:30-5:30 PT 6:30-8:30 PT Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday depending on the demand. This will serve most after hours US clients and if there is a different requirement for worldwide we will address that in the survey.
Is there financial support?
We would like to encourage as many people as possible. Those under the age of 16 will be given scholarships, with parental consent and will be matched with peers and a trained leader. Let's train our next young leaders. We will also give support to those in financial need. Please ask. We are here to support you!
Testimonials
"Tom is an effective and compassionate facilitator, both in one-on-one counseling and group settings. I have seen Tom, on many occasions, cut to the heart of the issue at hand and offer valuable and incisive feedback to others, including myself. Tom’s inquiring nature, solutions-oriented thinking, and interpersonal communication skills make him a valuable asset to his friends, colleagues, and clients."
David
“Tom, I’m so happy to let you know that I had a couple of days alone with my younger son and I showed him the letter. I let him read it first in his own space and we talked when he was ready. He took it so well and in such a mature way. He said I did the right thing to let him know which answered a few questions that he always had. He said the most important thing is that the family is close now. He will need some time to process it but it doesn’t change anything for him now. Sharing this has made us closer. Thank you for the positive role that you played in making this happen in such a mysterious yet wonderful way!!”
Sonia
“A few years ago, I had the opportunity to witness firsthand Tom Taylor’s exemplary leadership. He volunteered to be the Vision Keeper of the East Bay Circle of Men’s Fall Event, the organization’s capstone experience of the year. Tom asked me to be his production manager. Leading an event with 60 men for an entire weekend in the forest is a daunting task. Tom needed to compile and lead a holistic agenda that included safety, spiritualism, humor, good food, accommodations, and logistics in a remote location far from the Bay Area. Tom was a wonderful role model on how to lead with integrity, support and a smile during the entire monthslong preparation process. The Fall Event was a success. I knew Tom before the Fall Event, and am glad I got to know him better during that time”
Adrian
"Tom has been involved with men’s work and developing community among men through the years. In the few years I’ve known him he has taught me how to look for the opportunity in setbacks, to be accountable to myself and others and the abundance found through community. Tom is a present, empathetic, loving and compassionate person."
